Deep Cuts · last updated 7 October 2026
Deep Cuts is a small, invite-only tool for DJs to prepare sets from their own vinyl collections. This page explains what it stores about you and why.
What we store
- Your sign-in identity: your email address and name from Google (or your GitHub username), used to recognise you and check the invite list.
- Your Discogs details: your Discogs username and the access token you give us. The token is stored encrypted and is only used to read your collection. We never post, edit or buy anything on Discogs.
- Your collection and your work: the records and tracks imported from Discogs, tempo and key information we add, and the mixes, notes, events and collab sessions you create.
- If you request an invite: the email, name and note you typed, so the owner can decide.
- Technical logs: basic request logs kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
How it's used
Only to run Deep Cuts for you: showing your library, building your mixes and sharing a mix with a DJ you invite. We don't sell your data, show adverts or use it for marketing. In a collab, the other DJ can see the tracks added to that shared mix (title, artist, tempo, key, length) and the display name you chose, not the rest of your library.
Who handles it
- Our database is hosted by Neon in Frankfurt, Germany.
- The website and its server code run on Vercel.
- Collection imports run through GitHub Actions.
- To find a 30-second preview of a track we send its artist and title to Deezer and Apple (iTunes).
- Some optional assistant features use Anthropic's AI. They are currently switched off; if they're turned on, the question you ask and the relevant track details are sent to Anthropic to get an answer.
Keeping it and deleting it
We keep your data while your account is active. Ask the person who invited you (who runs the service) to export or delete your account and everything in it, and they will. Backups are kept for up to 35 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within that time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time. If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the rights set out in data protection law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above. Questions or requests: contact the person who invited you.
